Billing
Processing fees
Choose who covers the card processing fee on each transaction. The setting lives in your payment settings and takes effect on every checkout without any integration changes.
Where to enable it
The setting is in two places, both showing the same options:
- MeridaPay dashboard: open Settings and click Processing fees in the left nav.
- Embedded management console (if your platform embeds the
/manageconsole): open the Settings tab.
Pick one of four options and click Save.
Offoption (default)The card processing fee is not shown to buyers. You absorb the full cost.
Pass to customeroptionThe card processing fee is added to the total the customer pays. You receive the product amount in full.
Split 50/50optionHalf the card processing fee is added to the customer total and the other half is on you.
You cover itoptionYou collect the full charge amount and cover the card processing fee yourself. No line item is shown to buyers.
What buyers see at checkout
When the setting is Pass to customer or Split 50/50, a "Card processing fee" line item appears on the checkout page. The buyer sees the base price, the fee, and the total before confirming.
The fee shown at checkout is an estimate based on your configured rate. The exact fee is reconciled when the payment settles, so the final amount on your ledger may differ slightly from the estimate. This works the same way whether the buyer pays through a hosted checkout link or an embedded overlay.
Applies to card payments only
The processing-fee pass-through currently applies to card checkouts. Checkouts on other payment rails are not affected.
No integration changes needed
This is a merchant setting. Integrators do not change any API call, SDK option, or embed attribute to activate it. Once you save the setting, MeridaPay adds the fee line item to checkout pages automatically, for every integration pattern you use (hosted link, embedded overlay, API-minted checkout).
Compliance note
You are responsible for making sure that adding a card processing fee to customer transactions complies with the rules that apply to your business and location.
